How to cancel ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go — on every platform.

Cancellation is step one of every refund play, and the whole job if you just want out. The steps depend entirely on where you subscribed.

Route 1

Subscribed on chatgpt.com (web)

  1. Log in at chatgpt.comUse the account that's being charged — check the email on your receipt if unsure.
  2. Open Settings → SubscriptionClick your profile icon (bottom-left on desktop) → Settings → Subscription.
  3. Click "Manage" then "Cancel plan"Manage opens the billing portal (Stripe). Choose Cancel plan and confirm.
  4. Keep the confirmation emailYour proof if anything renews anyway. Access continues to the period end.

Route 2

Subscribed on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open iOS Settings → your name → SubscriptionsNot the ChatGPT app — the subscription belongs to your Apple ID.
  2. Tap ChatGPT → Cancel SubscriptionIf you don't see it here, it wasn't billed by Apple — use Route 1.

Route 3

Subscribed on Android

  1. Open Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → SubscriptionsThe plan lives in your Google account.
  2. Select ChatGPT → Cancel subscriptionFollow the prompts; Play emails a confirmation.

Cancellation questions.

Do I lose access immediately when I cancel?

No. Cancelling stops auto-renewal only — Plus/Pro features continue until the end of the period you already paid for.

I can't find the cancel button on my phone.

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, the subscription lives in your Apple/Google account, not in ChatGPT settings. iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions.

Does cancelling delete my chats?

No — your account, history and custom GPT access at the free tier remain. You're removing the paid plan, not the account.

Will OpenAI charge me after I cancel?

No further charges after a confirmed cancellation. If one lands anyway, that's a billing error — squarely refundable. Keep the cancellation confirmation email.
